![]() ![]() Unfortunately, we did experience a hot water issue this past Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. ![]() Jfiore3, Thank you for taking the time to post a response regarding your recent stay with us. I am grateful to the staff and to the management of Home2 Downtown Baltimore. All in all, if the surgery of one's spouse can be made less stressful, Home2 managed to do so. ![]() The bed was fabulous, and I am fairly particular about beds. It was meticulously clean, and with a charming view toward Mt. I was offered a discounted Hopkins rate on my room, which was delightfully un-fussy (no faux-art or foolish frills), with a very nice galley kitchen, king bed, free wired or WiFi Internet connection, and excellent soundproofing. I left my car in the Hopkins garage and used the hotel's complementary shuttle each day. The parking situation is difficult, due to the location, but valet parking is offered and on-street paid parking is available as well. The entire staff, including management, front desk, housekeeping and shuttle drivers, was friendly and supportive as I "commuted" to Johns Hopkins Hospital daily during my husband's heart surgery and post-op week. As a woman staying alone I am always conscious of the security and feeling of safety in hotels, and here I felt completely comfortable. Having stayed in several other all-suites hotels I found Home2 to be exceptionally warm and intimate - not a cold, corporate-feeling place at all. Home2 is a newer Hilton chain, with reasonable rates and individual ownership. This caution is more about Baltimore than Home2 however. The hotel appears to have good security, but walking back from the harbor area or even nearby convention hotels did not feel entirely safe. One caution- as a woman traveling alone, I was not comfortable with the neighborhood after about 7PM. For those on a longer trip or staying an extended time in Baltimoe, there is a laundry room and a common room where you could have a small meeting or visit with friends. The lighting is well thought out, and you can comfortably read in bed, a rarity in hotels. Wifi is included, and charging your mobile devices is easy with the outlets built into the desk lamp. A basic breakfast (yoghurt, breads, cereal, juice and coffee/tea) is included in the reasonable nightly rate, and there are a variety of ethnic choices very near by when a restaurant is preferred. The Washington Monument & Museum is an 8-minute walk from the hotel. This hotel is geared to the business traveler, although the kitchen facilities in each room make it attractive for anyone not wanting to be dependent on restaurants for all meals. ![]() The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is 3.5 miles away. The hotel’s front desk is staffed 24 hours a day. A modern fitness center, game room, and business center are all on site at the Downtown Baltimore Home2Suites by Hilton. They are decorated in bold colors and each have a kitchenette. An iPod docking station and a 42-inch flat-screen TV are included in every room at Home2Suites by Hilton Baltimore Downtown. It serves breakfast every morning and features an on-site convenience store and free Wi-Fi access. Located in downtown Baltimore, this hotel is a 6-minute walk from the Walters Art Museum. ![]()

It becomes a competition, like cat and mouse, with other people. When you private label, there’s a lot of downward pressure on price, and it gets very hard to compete over time. ![]() ![]() As in Silicon Valley, where a growing number of software and systems designers are choosing to remain independent rather than work for big tech companies, so a similar trend is beginning with architecture graduates as well. The hiring professionals in DI’s surveys may complain about inadequate training among today’s graduates, but the values and attitudes of this student generation will come to dominate and change the profession. As more students come to share this mindset regarding the future, their sheer momentum will alter the status quo. For example, the use of Agile, Scrum, and other collaborative techniques in building design is spreading across the firms. Lessons from other industries, such as tech, software/systems development, and aerospace are being directly applied to AEC, and the initial outcomes are indicating dramatic shifts in approaches, process, and fulfillment of building programs. Innovative ways of working, collaborating, leveraging knowledge through technology, and devising economic value are all challenging traditional ways and means across the design and construction industry. The future of AEC is on a radical path toward reinvention, led by the upcoming generations who have a new set of attitudes, values, and behaviors. Students, as well as young professionals, are demanding a different kind of industry. Traditional architecture/engineering and construction (AEC) practices were labeled out of date, stuck in old paradigms, irresponsible to communities and the environment, and motivated by financial considerations rather than the desire to do what is right.Īs the leadership of DesignIntelligence travels the globe, these themes emerge on a consistent basis. A range of work is also critical: engaging various market types and solutions, and using a broader range of their skills. That sense of purpose continues to be a major drive in the generation entering the workforce: working for a wage is no longer enough motivation. The lion’s share of students indicated that the work they do in the future must be purposeful, responsible, founded in defensible research, with a measurable impact. 1 response overall was to be self-employed. The second standout was the answer to the following question: “If there were no barriers, what firm would you want to work for?” The No. Our survey results indicated that 32 percent of professionals rank such fundamentals as inadequate among architecture graduates. That competence ranges from the fundamental knowledge of how buildings come together to the collaborative communication skills essential to design work. What the professional hiring managers from firms across the nation desire is the ability of graduates to hit the ground running when they begin work in the real world. So we now ask a second primary question: “From which schools have you hired the greatest number of students (graduate and undergraduate combined) in the last five years?” But when those same professionals put forth budgets, time frames, and performance expectations, the subjective is secondary to what is known, observable, and measurable. Often admiration is assigned to an institution based on a personal encounter, intellectual curiosity, or an inclination shaped through public relations. Professionals may say they admire one school over another, but that may not always have to do with the readiness and competence of the graduates. ![]() ![]() While the DI survey always asked hiring professionals what programs were “best,” we have focused sharply over the past two years on what schools those professionals actually hire from the most. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One-ear styles let you keep in touch with the environment around you, as well as the person you’re calling, while two-ear styles come with the option of having noise-cancelling functionality – perfect when you really need to concentrate and be free from distractions.Ĭommunicate efficiently with our practical headsets, make sure your caller can hear you with excellent sound quality, and keep your focus with noise-cancelling variations, choose a headset with a microphone to suit your working style with Jabra. Numbers from this famous series is known as a fibonacci number. Understand the how and why See how to tackle your equations and why to use a particular method to solve it making it easier for you to learn. This is generated by using the sum of the previous term and preceding term before it to create the next number in the sequence. The summation of this series gives you the n th value.Īnother common series is the Fibonacci sequence. This is expressed as the starting term plus the sum of (starting term) * (common ratio elevated to the power of the n th term). Similar to the arithmetic sequence equation, the geometric series has a formula for directly calculating values: the geometric sequence formula. The geometric series equivalent of the common difference is known as the common ratio, which is the ratio between the prior term and the next term in the sequence (expressed as a multiple of the prior term). For example, the sum from the 1-st to the 5-th term of a sequence starting. where n is the index of the n-th term, s is the value at the starting value, and d is the constant difference. (we have a geometric series calculator as well the geometric sequence calculator can be found here.) The sum of an arithmetic progression from a given starting value to the nth term can be calculated by the formula: Sum(s,n) n x (s + (s + d x (n - 1))) / 2. This shows the geometric progression of a variable. One is the geometric series, generated by multiplying each term by a constant. A quick way to understand a number sequence, without using an arithmetic series calculator. This arithmetic sequence equation shows what happens as we add a successive term to the series (add the constant difference) or backtrack to the previous term. So the 5 th term for a series starting at 3 (the initial term), with a common difference of 4, and where n = 5 would be: Starting point + (n - 1) x common difference The nth value of an arithmetic sequence can be calculated as: You can solve for the answer to the arithmetic sequence question above using algebra. As long as things move at a constant value or ratio, you can manage the finite arithmetic progression.Įxplicit Formula: The Arithmetic Sequence Formula It can tolerate more complexity than an explicit formula, since you're defining the second term as a function of the previous number. You simply enter the number of terms which you want, along with terms that describe how the arithmetic sequence is constructed, and the explicit formula will tell you the value of the nth term.ĭon't underestimate the power of a recursive formula. You can also define what is known as an explicit formula, where you don't need to iterate through the values of the arithmetic sequence to get a number. This defines the pattern for the series and doesn't require higher level math (creating formulas). Take your starting value, add X, keep going until you hit the nth term. ![]() We define the arithmetic sequence calculations in a recursive formula based on the prior item. The first of this, which we demonstrated above, is referred to as a recursive formula. ![]() Substitute the value of Arithmetic Sequence of nth term we getīy this formula, you can find the Summation of Arithmetic Sequence easily.įree tools provided for several math concepts on can be of extreme help to understand concepts you felt difficult. There are actually two ways to define a sequence in mathematical terms. In order to find the summation of a sequence all you have to do is add the first and last term of the sequence and multiply them with the number of pairs. Want to know the summation of Arithmetic Sequence? Trust us it's not going to be hard and you can do it on your own. In the case of a zero difference, all the numbers are equal and no further calculations are needed. ![]() The Arithmetic Sequence formula listed above is applicable in the case of all common differences be it positive or negative. The highly-recommended podiatrist I saw had nothing to offer except “come back when you can’t stand the pain and we’ll do surgery.” But my my mid-50s, I developed plantar fasciitis and neuroma pain. I wore Birkenstocks for a long time, because they were the only shoes I could find that were wide enough to accomodate my feet and not squish my toes, which I always hated. My journey was similar to yours: barefoot shoes got me out of foot pain five years ago (at the age of 60!). My podiatrist did not tell me specifically to wear Birkenstocks, as I think she was more about a sneaker. Reading this article now I’m very confused. I know one thing the podiatrist did tell me was to do away with flip-flops and loose type shoes and very soft bending sneakers that I had with no support. I’m honestly thinking about ordering some Birkenstock slippers. I don’t know how or why but it seems like I get relief with the Birkenstock. Or when I crouch down, there is a Stitch type pain into my second third toe area. I’ve had a numb left heel for years but I’ve now got pain especially when barefoot and walking on hard floors but seems to be in my second mostly and maybe third toe. My go to most of the time is still my Birkenstocks even in the house. I did end up getting some Hoka sneakers to wear for my walks. I don’t really feel that I walked away with a lot of information. I’ve visited a podiatrist about a year ago. But you don’t need to be limited to sandals! To get started with minimalist shoes, simply head to my home page. Here are some barefoot sandals that are zero drop, with thin flexible soles, and a natural foot shape to them – for optimal foot function. So the next question is, what am I wearing instead of Birkenstocks? Here is a list of barefoot sandals that can be worn daily just like a Birkenstock sandal. That means Birkenstocks are gone from my life, and even though we had a good run, I have no plans to come back to them. As anyone close to me will report, I can often be found traipsing around barefoot! And when I’m not, I’m in barefoot shoes 100% of the time. But I’d still like to be able to chase my grandchildren someday, so I take every opportunity to use my body naturally. I am prone to joint issues myself, which has affected my path toward healthy feet and better overall movement. But we can ALL, no matter our current situation, be better informed about how our shoes and lifestyle choices affect us. I am not here to tout going barefoot as a panacea for all people with foot pain. ![]() So how do you achieve those things? Here are a few non-threatening ways to improve the health of your feet. The Better Long Term Solution to Foot Pain But relying on them in the long term will only serve to weaken your foot function over time.
